Chairman of the National Committee of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudradjat said the national textile prices would rise 15 per cent due to increases in electricity rates.

"The increase in electricity rates (TDL) will cause a snowball effect for the textile industry by 15 percent," Ade said on Friday.

He said that the price increase will increase 5 percent because of higher minimum wage in 2013. Because it increases the domestic textile prices in 2013 according to her will by 20 percent.

According to Ade that increase would reduce the competitiveness of local products compared to imported products. He said that imported textile products not influence the increase in electricity so that it can interfere with the competitiveness of local products.

"So, up 20 per cent so it is impossible to curb imports," he said.

He asserted estimated textile entrepreneurs will terminate its employees to deal with the situation. But according to him this time no one has complained about the condition. "If such conditions and how the loss of competitiveness," he said.

Formerly the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik ensure price increases in electricity rates by 15 percent for power users above 900 watts per January 1, 2013.

"People power users 450 watt and 900 watt charge does not rise, because many of those less fortunate," Jero said in a press conference one year performance of the minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) here on Wednesday.

He said in a meeting with the House, there are three options TDL increase, the first directly increased by 15 percent. The second option according to him, rising every month and the third option up per three months.

"So the third option is taken, the increase in electricity tariff every three months with the amount of 4.3 percent each time increment," he said.

He said the move was a form of cross-subsidization is done to the lower classes that use a lot of electricity to power 450 watts and 900 watts.
